Why XUN blocks are too slow?

Post by Desp » Sat Dec 30, 2017 4:55 pm

Hi Everyone,

Many of you are aware of the delay in XUN blocks last 2 days. We are now going to explain why this is happening:

1st - We had a high load from Nicehash with about 5 Mh/s which made the difficulty raise to over 300M

Solution:
We can't prevent nicehash on community pool. We are informing every community member who want to start his own pool to keep the Nicehash port closed and set max difficulty to 200K so we can prevent very high difficulty.
To prevent the use of Nicehash means that we have to prevent people from creating pools by locking the coin pool source and this is something we don't want to do because we want to keep the coin source free for everyone. By free I mean open, anyone can use and modify.

2nd - We had same time with Nicehash attack another Ddos attack on main pool sockets.

Solution:
Attacks been traced and attackers ips been blocked.

3rd- Some pool owners tried to steal from the miners using double spend, We have seen about 7 transactions where miner tried to get block reward twice or higher reward per block.

17:37:41.436655 ERROR Coinbase transaction spend too much money: 1184.199592, block reward is 150.001000

17:37:41.436857 INFO transaction use more money then it has: use 1847.902408, have 1754.528408

16:42:49.723093 ERROR Coinbase transaction spend too much money: 1186.569065, block reward is 152.370473
16:42:49.723182 INFO Block <3b72e592895deae9efeb75cbf3b1ae82f59c1bf288387eaf45ab5d7894c2c584> has invalid miner transaction
16:42:50.224248 INFO transaction use more money then it has: use 1847.902408, have 1754.528408

Solution:

Such payments will never be registered in the network and will always be rejected.
What happen is that the network will drop this transaction between 2-7 days in a way that the network pushing this fake transaction to the next block. This make it harder for the blocks to be found because the failed transactions moving with them and the network needs to find the right amount of the block reward to send out.

Please be patient, this issue will go over with time. Keep mining because your hashes is arriving to the pool and they are added to your shares and you will be paid for them. Nothing to worry about.

Really good, concise description of the issue, thanks man. As always, you put in some serious leg-work to get the job done.

Totally understand, but the hashes dont seem to be being credited. Much like the start of the month, hashes keep going up but once the block returns to normal I'm credited with essentially no XUN. It's happened everytime there is an issue. I believe in the project, but mining for days without credit is getting super old.
