Linux + CPU Miner

Post by MagnumPI » Sat Dec 09, 2017 5:44 am

Hi, I've been mining from the wallet for the last week, but decided to try my hand at mining on linux ubuntu (cpu miner). The last step/command, where I'm trying to spin up the cpu miner instance, and start mining is giving me trouble. Was hoping someone could help out a rookie, and possibly point out where I'm making a mistake. It keeps telling me "Try 'minerd --help' for more information."
Here are the commands that I'm running:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential m4 libssl-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libminiupnpc-dev git automake libcurl4-openssl-dev
git clone https://github.com/pooler/cpuminer.git
cd cpuminer
./autogen.sh
./configure _CPPFLAGS="-03"
sudo make
./minerd -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://alpha.ultranote.org:5555 -u Xun3ji9jf1TX1s54EWBs7MWSG5bTuQCUXHC8JXgPSpqb9rWkwhA2t2GgBhG58WtSwmbxF9Qqxps32M9zBnWJES5m4sjkYZsx3E -p x

Thanks for helping a rookie out!

Ok, getting closer. Here are the updated commands:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y
sudo apt-get install -y build-essential m4 libssl-dev libdb++-dev libboost-all-dev libminiupnpc-dev git automake libcurl4-openssl-dev
git clone https://github.com/lucasjones/cpuminer-multi
cd cpuminer-multi
chmod +x autogen.sh
./autogen.sh
./configure CFLAGS="-O3 -march=native"
make
./minerd -a cryptonight -o stratum+tcp://alpha.ultranote.org:5555 -u Xun3ji9jf1TX1s54EWBs7MWSG5bTuQCUXHC8JXgPSpqb9rWkwhA2t2GgBhG58WtSwmbxF9Qqxps32M9zBnWJES5m4sjkYZsx3E -p x

And the resulting output:
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] Using JSON-RPC 2.0
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] CPU Supports AES-NI: YES
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] 0 miner threads started, using 'cryptonight' algorithm.
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] Starting Stratum on stratum+tcp://alpha.ultranote.org:5555
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] Pool set diff to 2000
[2017-12-09 07:50:38] Stratum detected new block

I'm assuming 0 miner threads started is a problem :) Will update if I can get this working...any help is appreciated!
